Today, Amazon unveiled its new cloud based system for sharing and playing music and other digital media. The Amazon Cloud Drive is free of charge for anyone to use with file storage up to 5GB. Cloud Drive offers users to easily and securely upload, access and play their files anywhere they have access to the Internet.
If you want to get more storage it will cost you about a $1 per GB per year. Plans range from $20 (20GB) all the way up to $1,000 (1,000 GB). Customers that also purchase an album from the Amazon MP3 Store will get an upgrade for a year to the 20GB plan if purchased by the end of this year.
The Amazon Cloud Drive is a great tool on its own, but Amazon has 1-uped it by adding the Amazon Cloud Player, which will allow you to easily play and share your music and media. It’s compatible with all major browsers for both PCs and Macs and is also available on mobile Android devices, no word on iOS or Windows Mobile availability.
Amazon Cloud Drive securely stores any type of file with a file size limit of 2GB. If you have an Amazon account already just navigate to the Amazon Cloud Drive page and you can start uploading immediately. Once you have some media files open you can navigate to the Cloud Player to play your audio or video files.
