You may know some local restaurants or businesses in your area, but you’re interested in trying something new. So, you hit up Google for a restaurant and see thousands of results with reviews, but you don’t know what to choose. Wouldn’t it be great if you could see reviews from people you know to help you find your new favorite restaurant? Google’s new integration of Hotpot, released back in November, does exactly this and best of all, it’s now integrated in standard Google search results.
Hotpot is basically a personalized recommendation engine for local businesses. You make a profile, rate businesses you like and give them comments. You can then follow friends, family, and other people you enjoy, to see their recommendations as well. Google will take your reviews as well as your friends and family reviews and will give you new personalized recommendations for businesses you might enjoy.
