Software/Hardware used: iPad 16GB running iOS 4.2 and an Apple TV (2010 model).

Before proceeding with the guide make sure that the Apple TV you wish to stream video to is on the same network as the iPad and that AirPlay is enabled on the Apple TV.
How To Stream Videos from the iPad to Your Apple TV
With AirPlay you can stream audio and video to an Apple TV. In this section we will go over streaming video from the iPad.
1. While playing a video on the iPad, tap on the screen for the controls to appear.
2. Tap on the AirPlay icon.
3. Choose the device you wish to stream the video to.
The video should begin streaming on to the Apple TV you chose from the list. To stop streaming repeat the steps above and tap on iPad.
You can also control AirPlay from the recently used applications list.
1. While playing the video on the iPad, press the Home button twice and scroll to the left.
2. Tap on the AirPlay icon.
3. Choose the device you wish to stream the video to.
The video should begin streaming on to the device you chose from the list. To stop streaming repeat the steps above and tap on iPad.
If you happen to have wireless speakers at home that are compatible with AirPlay you will be able to select them from the list to stream only audio.
How to Stream Music from the iPad to Your Apple TV
In this section we will go over streaming audio from the iPad to the Apple TV.
1. Open the iPod app and tap on the AirPlay icon next to the volume control.
2. Tap on the device you wish to stream the audio to.
To bring the audio back to the iPad repeat the steps above and tap on iPad from the list.
You can also access AirPlay settings for audio without having to exit the application you are working on.
1. Press the Home button twice to open the recently used apps bar, scroll to the left until you see the iPod controls.
2. Tap on the AirPlay icon.
3. Tap on the device you wish to stream the audio to.
To bring the audio back to the iPad repeat the steps above and tap on iPad from the list.
As far as I can tell the second option listed above will allow you to stream audio from Pandora, I noticed that there is no option to enable streaming within the Pandora App, but I’m sure that will be taken care of in a future update to Pandora.
